Sacramento, Calif. – Candidate for California’s sixth congressional district Tamika Hamilton today announced the endorsement of Natomas School Board Vice President Jag Bains.
“Tamika will be a strong advocate for local control of public education,” says Bains. “She understands the need for diverse curriculum, is respectful of the Sikh community, and readily acknowledges our many contributions to American life. She will make an excellent representative.”
Elected in 2018, Trustee Bains is the first person of Indian descent to serve on the Natomas Unified School Board of Trustees. As a Board Member, Bains has focused on improving student achievement, reducing administrative costs, and investing in college and career pathways. Prior to serving on the Board, Bains was appointed as a City of Sacramento Parks Commissioner, where he supported renovating and rehabilitating city parks to make them more safe and accessible.
Bains is a political independent and is registered No Party Preference (NPP).
“Jag is an independent-minded leader who has a strong resume when it comes to improving student outcomes and government efficiency,” said Hamilton. “I’m humbled by his support.”
